Sometimes, paintings appear to take on 'a life of their own' regardless of the intent and purpose of the artist. Then the painting begins to tell its own story in partnership with the idiom of the artist. Ultimately, something magical may happen. Robert is interested in the concepts of memory and recollection as they are provoked by abstract images. By using methods of form, color, and shape and she experiments with how these may influence the content of the painting. She seeks to render a landscape which lies beneath the surface of the painting. She resolves painting which says different things to different people.
An abstract work of art is most successful when it is able to provoke different meanings from every member of an audience. Abstract art is at it's best when it succeeds in seeming new and different and engaging even as it ages. All of us are different in every way with the exception that we are all human, and we all view things differently.
