Shari Arai DeBoer
DeBoer's work are original hand made intaglio prints. Intaglio is a methof of printmaking in which ink is forced into the incised lines and recesses composing the image on a metal plate. The surface of the plate is wiped clean, dampened paper is placed on top and run through an etching press to transfer the ink from the recesses in the plate onto the paper. Intaglio printmaking includes etching, engraving, aquatint, spit bite and other techniques. Shari Arai DeBoer, is a painter and printmaker. Much of her artwork focuses on the plants and flowers that she grew up with her family's garden and nursery business in the San Francisco Bay Area.
